SHIATSU THERAPY (STUDY, PRACTICE AND TREATMENTS)
WHAT IS KOKODO KAPPO SHIATSU?
KoKoDo Shiatsu is a type or therapy that can be translated as the Imperial Light Way of Finger Pressure. It’s a very special healing art that uses the thumbs, fingers and palms to restore the natural balance of Ki in the human body. It’s a non-invasive therapy designed to stimulate the body's inherent ability to heal itself. The term Kappo means restoration of health.
KoKoDo Kappo Shiatsu utilizes the methodical application of finger pressure along the body’s meridian system called “Keiraku” in order to feel, assess and treat the imbalance of Ki or energy within the body. Shiatsu treatments do this through dispersing areas that have to much energy called Jitsu and tonifying or adding Ki to areas that are empty, weak or in need. This empty state is called Kyo. We are able to balance the Ki by using very simple pressing methods called Sha-Ho and Ho-Ho (aggressive and passive pressure methods). Ultimately this enables the practitioner to manipulate the energy found within the meridians and at the tsubo or points.
Acupressure also promotes wellness and Kappo through the stimulation and regulation of the nervous system, endocrine or hormone system, blood or circulatory system and Ki system. By ridding the body of this type of stress it will also relax the muscles and allow the skeletal system to adjust naturally and as needed.
In KoKoDo Shiatsu it is believed that our Ki or vital energy flows through channels called meridians and each regular meridian is associated with organ function. By regulating each meridian energy state shiatsu will in turn regulate organ function. This process helps the body protect against disease. Sha and Ho methods work in compliance with the Yin and Yang Theory and the 5 Element Theory and its cycles.
Through KoKoDo methods a practitioner can feel and sense the the movements and stagnation of Ki and use techniques to calm the sea of energy and in essence bring balance to the system. KoKoDo like, Traditional Chinese Medicine/Traditional Oriental Medicine are rooted in thousands of years of cumulated experience and knowledge.
New to Receiving - here are a few helpful hints
Shiatsu is a type of Japanese acupressure where we apply light to strong pressure using the thumbs, palm or hand and the pressure is applied along meridians call Kei and also applied on tsubo or points along those lines.
The Shiatsu practitioner locates areas and/or points and applies the appropriate pressure to help correct imbalances detected within the tissue.
When there is imbalance in the body, discomfort or pain may be felt. Tension is released and the flow of energy is restored, as your body’s natural healing process begins.
Full Shiatsu treatments typically last 45 min and up to 1 hour.
Receiver is fully clothed but should wear comfortable natural clothes like cotton gym wear. Nylon, compression wear and such are difficult for one to apply pressure to so please avoid these.
Please arrive 10 min early and to prepare, pay or fill out any paper work you might need to fill out.
