A Jiu Jitsu Freak & A Wandering Yogi met and fell in love!
Michael was a geo-technologist from Ontario who had a black belt in JiuJitsu. Diane just left nursing to be a wandering yogi .
A series of serendipitous events caused their worlds to collide – and they met and fell in love.
Humble Beginnings
Acting on their shared vision of building a life based on passion and art, they started Sadohana Dojo out of their backyard and living room from Quebec St. in 1997. Now we are approaching our 25th anniversary and we are still going strong. Maybe even stronger then ever.
Babies make 4
They welcomed boy and girl twins in 1998. Moved into a town home on Cambie St. and turned their master bedroom into a dojo.
We are more than just training partners!
We celebrate member marriages and birthdays. We carpool resources when someone is in need and help our fellow members move pianos and houses.
Many of our members have been a part of the Sadohana community since the very beginning. We are an important part of each other’s lives.
And with long-time members now bringing their kids to classes, we’re watching the second-generation of Sadohana practitioners develop their skills and discover what they’re capable of achieving.
In 2009, we opened our own 3200-square studio at #101-3570 East Hastings where Sadohana Vancouver is today!
