New Student Jiu-Jitsu Assessment
New Student Jiu-Jitsu Assessment
A Personal Introduction to JuJutsu, BJJ & Sadohana
Starting Jiu-Jitsu can feel intimidating—especially if you have little or no martial arts experience. Our New Student Jiu-Jitsu Assessment is designed to give you a personal introduction to Jiu-Jitsu while helping us understand your experience, goals, and individual needs.
This is more than a trial class. It is an opportunity to work directly with an instructor, learn the fundamentals in a safe and supportive environment, and discover the best way for you to begin your training at Sadohana.
Your Assessment Includes:
1. Consultation — Goals & Background
We'll discuss your previous training experience, current interests, and what you hope to achieve through Jiu-Jitsu—whether that's self-defense, fitness, confidence, personal development, or simply learning a new skill.
2. Movement Assessment
We'll look at basic movement, balance, coordination, mobility, and body awareness to help determine an appropriate starting point for your training.
3. Introduction to Jiu-Jitsu
You'll be introduced to fundamental Jiu-Jitsu concepts, positions, movements, and techniques in a controlled, beginner-friendly setting.
4. Questions & Discussion
We'll explain how training at Sadohana works, including our classes, training environment, expectations, progression, and approach to safe and sustainable training.
5. Personal Recommendation
At the end of your assessment, we'll discuss what we've learned and recommend the program and training approach that we feel is the best fit for you.
Why Start With an Assessment?
Everyone comes to martial arts for different reasons. A personal assessment allows us to get to know you, answer your questions, introduce you to our training culture, and help you begin your Jiu-Jitsu journey with confidence.
Assessment Fee: $69.79
If you decide to join Sadohana within 7 days of your assessment, your $50 credit will be applied toward your membership.
