Poses

Classical Yoga Therapy sequencing as per Krishnamacharya's lineage & Iyengar postures are used with modifications and adaptations for therapeutic purpose. Poses are done both in static (holding asana) and dynamic(moving with asana) movement. The breath is a vital component to the proper execution of Asana and ample time is spent on both, breathing and moving in class.

By now, most of us are quite familiar with the different Asana names and poses in Yoga. Yoga Therapy utilizes these poses by adapting them to the individual, modifying if need be, with blocks, walls, chairs and straps. This support allows the practitioner to access deeper qualities of the pose or Asana and affect greater change in their body.

Yoga Therapy also uses Asana for specific purpose, for example, using forward folds for cooling or reduction therapy and twists to improve heart health.

Depending on whether you are working in a private or semi-private fashion, your Yoga Therapy practice will be tailored to your body type, your fitness level and your specific needs.
