Nihon Densho Budo KoKoDo JuJutsu
Nihon Densho Budo KoKoDo JuJutsu is a traditional Japanese Grappling and striking system that specializes in joint manipulation, throws and pressure points for self-defense founded by Shodai Soke Irie Yasuhiro also know as Irie KoDo Soke.
Its central philosophy – humane self-protection – works on the principle that one does not have to rely upon sheer strength, size or brute force in order to defeat an opponent. Instead, KoKoDo teaches that with relaxation, focus, efficient technique and proper use of Ki, one can swiftly and effectively neutralize an opponent and shatter their will to do harm without causing serious permanent injury to the attacker.
KoKoDo's waza and gensouku are natural and effective methods that utilize pain compliance, leverage, bone or skeletal locking to throw, pin or disarm Kakari (attacker or aggressor). One must experience the art first hand to be able to feel its subtleties.
While most modern self-defense systems have become “westernized” and competition-based, KoKoDo JuJutsu honours the traditions and principles of the Samurai of Japan, whose centuries of refinement have culminated in this elegant and efficient art. Japanese culture, language and etiquette are strongly promoted in our dojo.
KoKoDo Shiatsu is the second side of the art and we use it to restore the body. KoKoDo acupressuire seeks to balance the body's keiraku or energy lines and helps unify the body, mind and ki. KoKoDo Shiatsu techniques use pressure points along the body's meridian system to ease soreness and promote overall good health and wellness. Students of KoKoDo should study both arts if they wish to have a full understanding of the Imperial Light way. This is In and Yo, Yin and Yang.
